I have 5 combat tours. I served during the “Don’t ask, Don’t tell, Don’t pursue.” Gays in the military started rough, but never kept the individuals from doing their job first and whatever he or she did off duty wasn’t my problem. My shipmate as corpsmen with 2/7 1st Marines was gay. He was excellent as an FMF Corpsman, (he better have been, I trained him). HMCS VanDeneede “Doc Wee Man” (retired)
